Golden Gate Pathfinder Hike Program
We have a new GGAC Hike Program.
The GGAC Program Committee is excited to announce the Golden Gate Pathfinder Hike Program! This program will focus on our older Scout programs - Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring. The name of our program was selected after voting at this year’s LEAD in January as well as through an opportunity advertised in the Council eNews. The new Pathfinder program will bring together hikes from the ever popular “Highlander” and “Rim Rover” programs previously offered in our legacy Councils.
In addition, the Trail Trekker Program for Cub Scouts continues now as the Golden Gate Trail Trekker Program.
We will evaluate the hikes from the previous programs to determine whether they are still viable hikes, how they fit the new Council’s program goals, and the geographical balance of the hikes. We are discussing new hikes including urban, historical, and accessible hikes, as well as ensuring the programs have hikes throughout all regions of the Council. We will announce more details on the specific hikes in a future eNews.
Timeline:
For those who have already begun those programs, both of the previous hike programs (Highlander and Rim Rover) will remain in effect during this transition period. Existing trail rocker patches will continue to be available during the transition period and will remain available until supplies run out. We will not be producing Center patches for those previous programs.
Patch Contest:
Future activities will include a contest to design a new patch for the Golden Gate Pathfinder hike program. We will announce details in the near future so get those creative juices flowing! If you have ideas for new Pathfinder or Trail Trekker hikes or have comments on the legacy hike programs or if you have questions, please email: Pathfinders.
